Greenpeace San Francisco/ Bay Area
Greenpeace is an independent campaigning organization that uses peaceful protest and creative communication to expose global environmental problems and to promote solutions that are essential to a green and peaceful future. The bay area is a hub not just for Greenpeace but for activism and community organizing in general. For this reason, it represents a headquarters for many progressive organizations including ours. We seek to tap into the rich activist roots that exist in this region and make our Oakland office a microcosm of the organization as a whole. That means developing media personnel, researchers, artists, organizers, etc. in order to tackle injustice and the systems that reinforce power and privilege, find creative ways to communicate Greenpeace's message to the Bay Area and engage local support, utilizie the arts in all that we do and ensuring that we are beneficial to rather than merely benefiting from local communities. We meet every Wednesday at our Oakland office(405 14th st #1700, Oakland, CA)to learn, plan, create, discuss, train, celebrate, build and expand.
