DON'T LET NEW YORK BLOCK ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRESS!! According to the Department of Sanitation of New York, approximately 10 BILLION plastic bags are used by New Yorkers EVERY YEAR! Our city spends about $12 MILLION every year cleaning up those very same bags. Even with those numbers, the State Congress is taking steps to prevent New Yorkers from addressing this issue. The NYC Bag Pre-emption Bill would PROHIBIT any fees, taxes, or charges on single-use, disposable plastic bags. This is NOT the direction New York City needs to go. It's time for NYC to join the likes of Seattle, Chicago, Austin, Los Angeles, and others in putting our environment FIRST! If you agree, meet us at NOON (12pm) on the South end of Union Square Park. We're going to share this information with fellow New Yorkers, helping them contact their State Assembly Member to voice their opposition to the NYC Bag Pre-emption Bill.
Here's a link to the bill. I encourage you to check it out.
