My name is Delmar, and I will be interning with the Supporter Mobilization team until the August. I’m excited to get started and learn more about Greenpeace!
I am currently a junior at Duke University, majoring in Political Science with minors in Visual & Media Studies and Environmental Science.
Last summer, I interned with an NGO called Malama Kaua’i on Kaua’i, where I worked on restoring and redesigning their Agricultural Youth Garden (lots of weeding and mulching). The final product saw a garden divided in 5 sections, each focusing on plants and foods from different regions around the world. The intention of the garden is to teach local children about sustainability and agriculture. My experiences on the island were incredibly fulfilling. Not only did I fall in love with the outdoors (and conquer my fear of insects), but I learned the importance of leading a sustainable, non-materialistic life. (Highly recommend visiting!!)
Some other random facts:
- I'm half-Burundian (small country in East Africa) .
- I love freelance photography and listening to music.
- I (almost) speak French.
I’m excited to be at Greenpeace this summer and have opportunity to work alongside people so dedicated to protecting the environment! Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about Greenwire or just to chat!
