Shopper's Revolt - Broadmead, Sainsburys

We had a good turnout of 10 volunteers for our session outside Sainsburys in Broadmead to show how Sainsburys are performing badly in the Greenpeace plastics league table: https://www.greenpeace.org.uk/supermarket-score-new-plasti…/

We split up into two groups to reach shoppers at each of the Sainsburys, which are only 200 metres apart.

Rain stopped play twice so we took shelter in the nearby shopping centres. In between the showers, we got a few signatures for our plastics petition, gathered in some particularly pointless plastic and, always the highlight, had some great conversations with members of the public. We met a guy who is writing a PhD on ocean chemistry at Bristol Uni, a low-consumption Buddhist monk, a lady who was bang on message with her “Planet not Plastic” bag for life and two people who are really keen to come to our next meeting (Valentine’s Night Thursday 14th February).

Many thanks to Fi, Richard B, Jon, Kate, Rosemary, Lorna, Carol, Loz, Doug and Paul.
