A second public meeting in Horsham, West Sussex, to rally support against Britaniacrest's proposed mass burn incinerator for commercial and municipal waste at Warnham, just to the north of Horsham. The proposal was turned down by West Sussex County Council in June last year, but Britaniacrest has appealed against that refusal, so it will now go to public inquiry.
NI4H urgently needs to raise funds to cover the cost of a barrister to attend the public inquiry. The community group is very well motivated and organised, and with help from UKWIN was successful in persuading the council to refuse the planning application last year despiute the planning officers' recommendation to approve. The council now has to defend its refusal decision, but NI4H and UKWIN will also be fighting again to stop this unnecessary source of greenhouse gases and air pollution.
