In 2011 John West committed to sourcing 100% sustainable tuna by 2016. To date they're at a pathetic 2%. However, other suppliers have made fantastic improvements.
VOLUNTEERS MEET AT 12 OUTSIDE BALHAM WAITROSE THIS SUNDAY 18th! Tours will start at half 12
We'll be conducting tours of the supermarket to show people which tuna is the most sustainable this Sunday from 12 until around 3, weather dependant. This day is for everyone, please come along, especially if you've not attended a meeting or any of our other events. You don't have to know anything about Tuna or Greenpeace, we'll take you on a Just Tuna Tour, please come along! If there are enough of us we can cover both Waitrose and Sainsburys, they're quite close together so we'll have a really good impact.
We'll be bringing tshirts and materials, you don't need to bring anything but a warm coat is probably a good idea.
Here's a link to a the Tuna league table Greenpeace has made. There is also a video showing undercover footage from a fishing trauler *contains shocking imagery* https://secure.greenpeace.org.uk/page/s/not-just-tuna
