We will be carrying out a second round activities for the second phase of Shoppers' Revolt!
We all know how harmful plastic is, and the rate at which it is being created, consumed and discarded - 1 truck load of plastic enters the ocean every minute.
Within the UK the grocery retail sector is the largest user of plastic packaging, generating over 800,000 tons a year. A supermarket is where most people purchase single use plastic packaging and they have the power to greatly reduce the amount they use.
Last year we carried out activities in all UK supermarkets, empowering customers to take the issue into their own hands and hand back plastic at the tills. This year we want to continue targeting the three worst supermarkets on GP's throwaway plastic league table, calling on them to urgently reduce the pointless plastic packagaing on their products.
Join us on Saturday 16 February, when we will be campaigning outside of Sainsbury's, 31-41 Liverpool Rd, London N1 0RW (Angel tube station). We will be collecting plastic from shoppers as they leave the store and asking them to write a note that we will attach to the plastic.
We'll be meeting on Islington Green (N1 2XN) at 13:00 for a full briefing. The event will last until approximately 15:30 (but if you have to leave early that's fine too!)
Look forward to seeing you then!
Note we are also running a campaign stall at the same time at Stamford Hill.
