Durham Greenpeace would love as many members as possible to join us in a fun, penguin-themed campaign.  On 20 January coinciding with Pengiuin Awareness Day we are taking part in a global day of action to raise awareness and kick start a global movement to create the largest protected area on Earth, an Antarctic Ocean Sanctury in the Weddell Sea.  An Antarctic Sanctury would create a safe haven for penguins, whales, seals and other incredible wildlife, fishing vessels would be off limits.  Healthy oceans can also help tackle climate change by soaking up carbon dioxide.

If you would like to join us we will be making our masks, etc in the upstairs room of Esquires Coffee House, bottom of Silver Street, Durham at 10.00am or you can meet us at our Stall in the Market Place, Durham 11.00am.   Later follow the Penguin trail around Durham!!
