The world has built 7000,000,000 smart phones. ! They are full of a mix of rare metals & toxics & plastics. Hard to repair or dismantle for recycling ( apple even use a special screw head to deter simple repairs). The industry would have us buy a new Smart phone every 2 years. Which would lead to about 30 phones each .
Perhaps we were better off without smart phones, but its harder to live without one when other have it & the other ways of society have been lost.
So how to make your phone last longer ?
Don't break the screen.. get a case ?
Take care of the connections, don't force or bend them.
The Battery..... The battery will only last so many charging cycles, so try to use less power...& Turn off stuff you don't need . Turn off GPS location (This makes a big difference & mostly you know where you are) & Turn off blue tooth, Turn off data when you don't need it. Avoid Apps like Whats App which switch people from txt messages to a "Data" based system, & move people to a higher use “plan” , & also use more battery power. Use dimmer display.( Twilight is an app that takes the white glare off the screen) Turn off Wifi when you aren't using it. http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/mobile-phone/how-improve-smartphone-battery-life-facebook-myths-3284240/ If you now get 3 or 4 days instead of 1 out of the battery, the phone could last 3 times longer before the battery packs up.
How you charge the battery is important too.. Lithium Ion Batteries are, it seems, best charged little & often, ideally charge from about 40% up to about 80% , With only occasional 0% to 100% charge. And don't over heat or freeze the phone. http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/mobile-phone/how-charge-phones-battery-3619623/
